1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information is collected and processed directly by our payment provider and is not stored on our servers.

Donation Data

We collect and store the donation records you create, including item descriptions, categories, estimated fair market values, donation dates, and the organizations you donate to.

Photos

When you use our scan feature, photos of donated items are uploaded to our servers for AI processing and stored so you can reference them later. You may delete your photos at any time through the app.

Usage Data

We automatically collect certain technical information, including device type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns to improve the Service.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Process your photos using AI to identify and value donated items
• Generate tax deduction reports and summaries
• Track your donation history and provide insights
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, receipts)
• Improve and optimize the Service
• Respond to customer support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Cloudflare's global infrastructure, which provides enterprise-grade security, encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and distributed redundancy. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate DonationLens:

• Stripe — Payment processing for subscriptions. Stripe collects and processes your payment information under their own privacy policy. We do not store your credit card details.
• Resend — Transactional email delivery (account verification, password resets, and receipts).
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — AI-powered item identification and valuation. Photos are sent to the Claude API for processing but are not stored or retained by Anthropic after processing is complete.
• Cloudflare — Infrastructure hosting, content delivery, and security services.

These providers have access only to the information necessary to perform their specific functions and are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of your data.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data — View all personal information associated with your account through the app's settings.
• Export your data — Download your donation records in CSV or PDF format at any time from the app.
• Delete your data — Request deletion of your account and all associated data through the app's settings or by contacting us. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
• Correct your data — Update or correct any inaccurate information in your account settings.

6. Cookies and Tracking

The DonationLens website uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The mobile app uses local device storage for authentication tokens and user preferences.

7. Children's Privacy

DonationLens is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@donationlens.com.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, for tax or legal compliance purposes).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
